These charges were filed on Wednesday, but the situation took an even more serious turn on Thursday when Susalis was slapped with three additional counts of attempted aggravated murder of law enforcement officers.The incident began when multiple calls were received reporting that someone in a blue sedan had fired at an occupied car near Anderson's Corner. James City officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Mark's Pond Way, where they encountered the suspect. Susalis is alleged to have opened fire on the officers, unleashing a barrage of approximately 100 rounds from a high-powered rifle.

Officers Injured, but Quick Thinking Prevents Tragedy

Despite the intense gunfire, only one officer sustained minor injuries from bullet fragments. No other officers or civilians were harmed. The York-Poquoson Sheriff's Deputy who arrived on the scene during the shooting also managed to escape unscathed.Authorities refrained from returning fire initially, as they were unsure of the exact source of the gunfire. Instead, they took cover while the shooting continued for around five minutes. Susalis eventually emerged from his house and surrendered to the police.
