The Jefferson City American Legion Post 5 Sophomores encountered a tough test in their pool-play games at the Up & Coming Ozark Open tournament. In the opening matchup, they fell 4-0 to Sedalia Post 642, managing just three hits in the game. Caleb Howard, Luke Skinner, and Brayden Kempker each recorded a single, but the Sedalia pitching staff proved too dominant.The second game saw the Sophomores take on the Kickapoo 16U team, where they ultimately fell 9-5. Kickapoo jumped out to an early 9-0 lead, but the resilient Sophomores refused to give up. In the top of the third inning, Carson Verslues drove in a run with a single, sparking a comeback effort. Caleb Howard and Luke Skinner added RBI singles in the fifth inning, cutting the deficit to four runs.
